Fingerboarding is no longer dominated by a handful of countries or a small group of established European and American companies.

For 2026–2027, the interesting question isn't simply "Who are the biggest brands?" It's "Which brands have the potential to become the next important names in fingerboarding?"

Below is a country-by-country watchlist, with particular attention to brands showing originality, product development, community involvement, international potential or strong local identities.

🇻🇳 Vietnam / 🇦🇸 Asia — #1: Saigon Skateboards / Cosa Nostra

🇯🇵 Japan

Japan has an extremely strong potential for fingerboarding because of its enormous skateboarding culture, highly developed collector culture and appreciation for miniature craftsmanship.

🇵🇭 Philippines

The Philippines has one of the most interesting developing fingerboard communities in Southeast Asia.

The country has a strong skateboarding culture, a huge social-media-driven youth market and an unusually active community of independent makers.

Brands to watch

Look particularly for local handmade deck makers and obstacle builders, rather than expecting one dominant national company to emerge immediately.

The Philippines is potentially one of Asia's biggest untapped fingerboard markets.

2026–27 prediction: Watch for local brands moving from hobby-scale production toward proper international sales.

🇨🇳 China

China has enormous manufacturing capability, but its importance to fingerboarding goes beyond simply producing inexpensive components.

The country is increasingly capable of producing sophisticated trucks, wheels, decks and accessories at competitive prices.

The key brands to watch are therefore not necessarily the biggest factories, but companies developing their own designs and identities.

Brazil could be one of the most important markets to watch over the next few years.

The country's skateboarding culture is enormous, and fingerboarding has the potential to benefit from that existing infrastructure.

Argentina has one of the most interesting independent fingerboard cultures in South America.

🇨🇱 Chile

Chile may currently have one of the strongest organised fingerboard scenes in South America.

Colombia's scene also benefits from major cities such as Bogotá and Medellín providing concentrated communities of riders and makers.

🇺🇾 Uruguay

Uruguay may be small geographically, but its fingerboard community is punching above its weight.

Look for Australian deck makers, wheel companies and obstacle builders that can solve the geographical problem of shipping to the rest of the world.

Australia's biggest challenge is distance.

Its biggest advantage is that Australian riders have historically been very comfortable developing their own equipment.

2026–27 prediction: Expect more Australian-made premium products aimed at the domestic market and Asia-Pacific.

🇫🇷 France

France has a growing independent fingerboard scene with several smaller brands and makers.

The country is particularly interesting because it sits geographically between the huge German market and the increasingly international Spanish/Portuguese scenes.

🇵🇹 Portugal

Portugal is especially interesting in the wheel market.

🇪🇸 Spain

2026–27 prediction: Watch for Italian companies that approach fingerboarding more like a design and collectible product rather than simply another piece of skate hardware.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

The UK has a long-standing skateboarding culture and an active online fingerboard community.

Its proximity to Europe is useful, but Brexit-related shipping and import complications have also encouraged local sourcing.

Watch for:

The UK could become particularly interesting for boutique and collector-focused fingerboards.

🇳🇱 Netherlands & 🇧🇪 Belgium

The Benelux region has an unusually dense concentration of European fingerboarders.

It benefits from proximity to Germany and access to the broader European market.

Expect smaller brands from the Netherlands and Belgium to remain active in:

These markets may not produce the largest companies, but they are excellent breeding grounds for independent makers.

🌏 The Bigger Picture for 2026–2027

The most interesting change is that fingerboarding is no longer following a simple Germany → USA → rest of world model.

The scene is becoming decentralised.

That creates a completely different environment for the next generation.

A small company in Vietnam can sell to America.

A Brazilian wheel maker can reach Europe.

A Chilean deck manufacturer can sell to Japan.

A Japanese collector can hunt for a European exclusive.

And an American rider can discover a handmade deck from Colombia.

The next two years could be particularly important for fingerboarding.

Some will disappear.

Some will remain small.

And a few will suddenly become internationally recognised.

For Asia, my number-one brand to watch for 2026–2027 is Saigon Skateboards / Cosa Nostra. The combination of handmade production, increasingly distinctive product development, limited releases and an expanding international role makes it one of the more interesting emerging stories in the region.
