A new direction for Cosa Nostra fingerboards
At Cosa Nostra, we've always believed that a good fingerboard should feel like an extension of your fingers. Every part of a deck — the shape, kicks, concave and overall geometry — changes the way a board performs.
After a considerable amount of research, testing and looking at what fingerboarders actually need from a premium deck, we identified an interesting gap: high kicks without an aggressive concave.
That led to the development of our newest mold:
SG159
The SG159 represents a change in direction for Cosa Nostra and is designed around a simple idea:
More pop, without sacrificing technical control.
27° symmetrical kicks
The SG159 features symmetrical 27-degree kicks, giving the nose and tail a consistent geometry.
The relatively high kicks provide additional leverage under the fingers, helping generate more pop and making it easier to get the board off the surface quickly.
But high kicks don't have to mean an aggressive board.
High kicks. Shallow concave.
The defining characteristic of the SG159 is the combination of 27-degree kicks with a shallow, mellow concave.
This gives the board a very different feel from decks where high kicks are paired with deep concave.
A mellow concave leaves more room for your fingers to move across the deck, which can be particularly beneficial for technical tricks, combinations and precise finger placement.
The result is a deck that aims to give you the pop associated with a higher-kick setup while maintaining the freedom and predictability of a mellow concave.
Why mellow concave?
Deep concave can provide a lot of control, but more concave isn't necessarily better for every rider or every style.
The SG159 takes a different approach.
The shallower profile can offer:
- Greater finger movement across the deck
- A less restrictive feel during technical tricks
- A flatter, more predictable platform for finger placement
- High kicks for increased pop and leverage
- A balanced feel between control and freedom
- A versatile setup for both technical and more pop-focused riding
- A distinctive feel compared with conventional high-concave decks
It is particularly suited to riders who want a responsive deck without feeling like their fingers are being locked into the concave.
One mold. 26mm to 38mm.
The mold will be used across 26mm through to 38mm fingerboard decks, allowing the same fundamental geometry to work across a wide range of deck widths.
Whether you prefer a narrow technical setup or a much wider board, the SG159 is designed to provide a consistent Cosa Nostra feel across the range.
The beginning of a clearer Cosa Nostra lineup
The SG159 isn't intended to stand alone.
We are currently preparing additional molds that will introduce mellow, medium and steep concave options, with these expected to launch later this year.
Instead of simply choosing a deck based on appearance or width, customers will eventually be able to choose the geometry that best matches their riding style and personal preference.
Want a mellow feel? There's a mold for that. Prefer something more balanced? There will be a medium option. Want aggressive concave and maximum lock-in? A steep option will be available too.
And for riders looking for the particular combination of high kicks and shallow concave, that's where the SG159 comes in.
A change for Cosa Nostra
The SG159 represents more than just a new mold — it represents a change in how we approach deck development.
Rather than simply producing another shape, we've tried to identify what different riders actually want from the geometry underneath their fingers — and build our molds around those requirements.
High kicks don't have to mean deep concave.
Technical control doesn't have to mean sacrificing pop.
The SG159 is our interpretation of that balance. And this is only the beginning.
